The Ocean Course
The world famous Ocean Course was designed by Pete Dye, and is one of only four courses in the United State to have hosted every major PGA event in the country. Difficulty level can be high due to the winds that flow through from the ocean. The Ocean Course boast the most seaside holes in the northern hemisphere. It has 10 holes which run right along the Atlantic Coast and the other 8 holes run parallel. Golf Digest named this the Number Three Public Golf Course in the United States. It was also rated Number Twenty in the Greatest Courses and Toughest Courses. Golf Magazine rates it Number Four in its “Top 100” courses.
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Turtle Point has been selected to hold many important championships including The Carolinas’ Amateur, The Carolinas’ PGA, the South Carolina Amateur and the 1990 PGA Cup Matches. In 2015/ 2016 the course went through a major Design-led renovation. It is rated number 48 by Golf Digest’s Top 100 Courses. This course is viewed by many to be a “mind” course and not a “muscle” course . The Fairways are narrow and the greens are small. Like the other courses on Kiawah Island, the wind plays a major factor.
Designed by Tom Fazio, this beautiful South Carolina course has long been a favorite of members and guests alike for its variety. It also went through a full renovation in 2014. Osprey Point is considered a nature walk where you can play a round of golf. The course is designed around lagoons, tidal marsh and wetlands. It features generous landing areas and large greens. It is a Par 72 with a 73.3Rating.
With its challenging fairways and greens, the Clyde Johnston-designed course is built where strategy will create winners! Renovated in 2015, Golf Digest recently rated it 4.5 stars. This course has been updated with some dramatic changes in order to enhance the guest experience and improve the quality of the course.
Redesigned by Gary Player, Cougar Point’s great layout keeps players on their toes. These players need to think their way around short par-4s and extremely scenic and challenging par-3s. This course wanders in and out of the scenic marshes and exotic wildlife. Check out the online reviews. Many people prefer Cougar Point over all of the other Kiawah Island courses.
